Other uses for Ir Thermal camera’s

Inspections — admin on March 8, 2010 at 9:29 pm

There are many uses for the thermal camera in the industrial field of machinery. The use of thermal imagery to detect excessive heat in lets say and electric motor for instance. You can look at the electric motor to see if it is running within a normal temperature range. You can detect heat signatures within a particular area of the motor, Lets look at the bearings at either end of the motor. You can surmise that with an elevated heat signature on one end of the motor that there is a problem with the bearing on the drive end of a motor. This tells the technician that this could be a potential problem down the road. It gives him a heads up for plant maintainability. He can schedule his maintenance crew to pull this motor while the plant is down for the night or have a shift supervisor pull the motor while the machine is not being used. This avoids loss of productivity by having the motor die during an active shift.
Any thing with moving parts can be analyzed for temperature fluctuation. This can point out areas that will require preventative maintenance to ensure no loss of productivity.

Found the plumbing

Home Xray — admin on December 12, 2008 at 10:29 pm

A home owner was getting ready to renovate his home for his aging mother. He turned his den into a bed room but needed a bath room for her. Being the second owner of the home he had no idea where the plumbing ran through the concrete slab. After hearing us on the radio he call to inquire about our system. He explained what he needed, we told him it was no problem for us and we could help him out. When we arrived at the home we made our way to the 2nd floor bath and turned on the hot water in the tub and let it run for 10 minutes. This was done so we could heat up the concrete around the pipes. Warm pipes are detectable with this system.

Not only did we find and map out his water supply lines but we were also able to map out his drainage system. It ended up about 2 feet from the planed area for the bath. This system made it easy to locate and saved him an untold amount in exploration.

Water Leak Found

Inspections, Thermal Inspections — admin on December 12, 2008 at 10:19 pm

Hi, This is Kevin Here again. This RI Thermal imaging system saved the day once again. We were called out with Hill Country G.R.S. for a suspected roof leak. Several roofing companies had been to this home in the past several months to find out where the water intrusion was coming from. After an extensive visual inspection of the roof system we found nothing wrong. So we moved to the water testing of the suspected area. After a 30 minute testing with the water being applied in all different directions and finding nothing we moved up the cheek wall and then around to the back of the home, applying water everywhere. While the water was cascading down the exterior walls  the thermal imaging camera  located the water on the exterior of the plywood which was covered with stucco. We followed the flow of water until it made its way to the first floor, It was making its way into the home and behind the stone wanes coating where it soaked into the plywood and into the inside of the home. This water problem had been going on for over 2 years and was not found by 3 roofing companies.

Money Saving Tips — admin on November 23, 2008 at 10:35 pm

When receiving a bid for upgrading of windows and doors in a home, Wouldn’t you like to know exactly what really needs to be done. You may feel drafts or cold spots around your home. This may not mean your windows are bad, you just might be missing essential insulation around them. It will be less expensive to add insulation instead of replacing windows. Lets say you had some work done around your home and you would like to know if the contractor did his or her job as planned. You can have Hill Country Thermal Imaging check the area of concern to insure you get what you pay for. This is an easy way to check if you can’t be there on the job everyday.

Thermal IR or (infrared) imaging inspections

About Us — admin on November 23, 2008 at 10:23 pm

Welcome to our blog. We are Kevin & Leslie Holland. We are the owners of Hill Country Thermal Imaging. Thermal imaging is essentially an x-ray of your home. It is a nondestructive way to look at your home and its components. This system can show heat loss or cold air infiltration around windows, doors, or walls & ceilings with missing or inadequate insulation. We can inspection your heating & cooling system along with the duct work to insure your system is operating efficiently, in turn saving you money. We can also locate moisture anywhere in the shell or interior walls. A thermal inspection of your home prior to having contractors give bids on upgrading window and door will insure you get a bid for only the items needed. This will also save you money.

This system is also a valuable tool for the the re-modeling contractor as well. When giving a bid to a home owner after having a thermal inspection of the property you can give a solid bid with images to back it up. Bidding a job can be a nightmare when you don’t know whats in the walls. We can help you give the bid that doesn’t end up costing you money in the end. Please If there is any questions you have, Just ask.

Welcome!
